Chocolate Louboutins is the second episode in the first season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Synopsis[]

It's Easter weekend in Beverly Hills but that doesn't mean that there is any less drama. Adrienne is on her way to Vegas for a shoot with a hot male model but she reluctantly decides to takes her Husband, Paul. Meanwhile, Kyle and Kim start squabbling at their family's vacation home in Palm Desert when Kyle accuses Kim of having no life outside her children, an accusation that just might be true. The conflict escalates back home in Beverly Hills as the Sisters celebrate Kim’s Daughter’s birthday at a posh spa.

Plot[]

The episode starts with Kyle Richards on the phone to her Sister, Kim Richards, after their recent bust-up over essentially how involved Kyle was becoming in Kim’s business (in relation to how much Kim makes her life about her kids and to do with her property search). Kyle explains that she and Kim’s family go to Palm Desert every year over Easter to their Mother’s former vacation home; which they now have as their wider family vacation home. Despite their argument, Kyle still wants Easter to go ahead as normal and this is why she is on the phone to Kim. As Kim confirms that she is still coming, Kyle goes onto explain how she has invited Lisa Vanderpump and her family (Husband, Ken, Daughter, Pandora, and Daughter’s Boyfriend, Jason); who will be staying in a hotel down the street but joining their Easter festivities. As Mauricio is fairly surprised that Kim is still joining the family on the Easter celebration, Kyle reasons that their argument really was not at all big and their dynamic tends to fall like this where they will have an argument and will quickly go back to being friends (when they were younger they used to knock each out and then be cuddling each other in bed, the next minute). As they’re about to leave, Mauricio questions how many pairs of shoes she is bringing away with her (which is nine!) but she is a little confused as to why he cares!

Elsewhere, Adrienne Maloof is having lunch with her Husband, Paul, and she goes onto say how their marriage is different to many as they have a very fun-loving dynamic which does involve a lot of bickering and arguing. As Paul jokes that he is going to order Adrienne some turkey, which she dislikes, she finds his persistence a little annoying but knows that this sums up their relationship. They discuss how Adrienne is going to model for an Australian magazine to showcase The Palms Hotel and how she plans to go to Las Vegas for just the night which Paul disagrees with. While he wants to make it a couples getaway for the night as Paul is looking to set up a plastic surgery practice of his in the area, Adrienne then says that they should bring the kids but Paul does end up winning the day as she concedes to make it a couple’s only night away. Despite this, Adrienne can’t understand why Paul is always so keen to tag along to her work events.

Ahead of joining the Richards Sisters, Lisa is shopping in Madame Chocolat for a gift to bring for the kids she’ll be spending Easter with. She picks up a pair of chocolate pink high heels which is a gift for a friend, very exquisite and stylish, and asks the shop what they could throw together ahead of the Easter getaway. They come up with a gigantic three-foot Easter Bunny since Lisa wants to bring something sophisticated and child friendly without having to bring twenty baskets of Easter Eggs. She agrees on the $1000 dollar purchase and is looking forward to gifting the gift.

Despite not having found a new property and being under the gun in terms of having to be out of her current leased property, Kim has still been convinced by Kyle to go to Palm Desert over Easter. Kim admits that she means no offense when saying it but she isn’t the happiest since Lisa and Ken are tagging along to the usual family tradition (of many years). Since she doesn’t know the couple all too well and isn’t great at socializing and making new friends, she is a little upset that it isn’t being kept to a family event. During the drive down, Kim comments on how she loves journeys to Palm Desert with her kids as they’re so happy, talkative and fun yet her kids don’t seem to share her excitement.

As Kim and her kids all arrive in Palm Desert, they are greeted by a slightly stressed Kyle since she arrived just before them and found the house not in its usual pristine condition since Kim’s middle children, Whitney and Chad, had been down a couple of weekends prior to host some of their friends and didn’t leave it exactly as they found it. Kim is seemingly a little annoyed when she finds that Kyle is making a bit of a fuss about the situation (as the state of the house really was not that bad) and doesn’t like how she is having a go at her niece and nephew, especially when her niece feels attacked. She recognizes that they clearly have differing parenting styles. Since Kyle has invited around Lisa and her family round for dinner on their first night, which Kim thinks is a little full on, the two sisters go grocery shopping and disagree on almost every ingredient and item they purchase (a shop that amounts to over five hundred dollars worth!).

Back in Beverly Hills, Camille Grammer explains how she is a producer for her Husband, Kelsey Grammer’s, company and would describe herself as busier than the other 'Housewives' as a result of this since she doesn’t have time to just shop, shop, shop! Within the company, she is involved in the creative process who comes up with storylines and ideas to pitch to producers, writers and directors and see if they will pick up or are interested in the idea. Camille feels that she really has learnt a lot being married to one of the best actors in Hollywood. Camille meets up with a producer and writer, Kevin, to discuss her latest pitch (a show inspired on the relationship of her Daughter and Nanny). Kevin feedbacks on how Nickelodeon felt the show wasn’t age appropriate and would be better suited to a higher-aged demographic (aged eighteen through forty-nine-year-olds). Camille feels her creative outlet is another way that she is beginning to morph into her own person. She has a phone call with Kelsey after the meeting with Kevin and seems enthusiastic about how this new show will work.

Also in Beverly Hills, Taylor has her regular stylist come over to her house since fashion in Beverly Hills is everything and keeping up with it is a must. This is a peek of being married to a successful Husband who can afford this type of luxury. While the items that she is going through have very highly expensive price tags, she enjoys seeing what fits on her and what goes with what. Being able to have stylists may be extravagant but necessary to live the life in Beverly Hills.

Roughly one-hundred-and-thirty miles away, Kyle is feeling very stressed out when cooking dinner since she is doing so for a high number of people, for friends, and friends who own restaurants and always host very well, Lisa and Ken. As Lisa and Ken enter and bare their Easter gift, the couple are well received yet Kim still feels a little put out that she is going to have to work harder this Easter to socialize and get to know the couple; despite finding it uncomfortable. As Ken jokes how organized the Richards Sisters are when they’re rushing around cooking their meal, Lisa decides to jump in and help out. During the meal preparation, there is a slight disagreement between Kim and Kyle over the cooking and comments that are being made (Kyle’s incessant need to have organic food is poked about by Kim). Kyle explains how she and her Sister have underlying issues within their relationship which now makes the smallest thing turn into a disagreement between the pair. While Lisa admits that she adores Kyle but finds Kim a little defensive, she finds being the middle of the two Sisters can be very intense and you don’t want to side with one and not the other as they will not take to it well.

Panning now back to Las Vegas, Adrienne is getting made up ahead of her photo shoot for an Australian magazine. Adrienne admits that she is missing her kids and felt that the couple should have bought them but the only trepidation was that they had school. Even though Adrienne finds Paul a little jovial during preparations for the photo shoot, she mentions how she finds him a kindred spirit as he always makes you feel like he is on your side. During the night out, Adrienne and Paul are surrounded by friends and Paul says how romantic his Wife is yet she doesn’t like PDA.

As well as focusing on being a creative piece for her Husband’s company, Camille is also busy designing the New York apartment that she and her kids will be part-time moving into (as they go back and for between Beverly Hills and New York) while Kelsey works in New York for a full year. She meets with an interior designer, Ken, from New York, who has flown into solely to discuss Camille’s new apartment in New York and look for respective furniture. The property is set to sleep twelve (Camille, her kids, her Husband and their staff). Even though Camille thinks living in New York is hard when you’re older and have kids as opposed to living in your twenties, she is happy to make this move to support her Husband. As they tour the furniture shop, she and Ken note how the furniture has to be good; not, not bad! Camille lists out locations as to where she has homes (two in New York, one in Colorado, several properties in Hawaii, three in LA) and this amasses to seventy-eight houses. Even though she admits to have many properties, she can’t say that she skims any of the furniture in the properties - it all has to be right.

As Easter Day arrives, Lisa, Kim and Kyle all enjoy the festivities together. Kyle comments on how Lisa always has the biggest and best from the cars to the dogs to the gifts. By the end of the weekend, Kyle reckons that she and Kim are back to a normal place in their relationship but it is unpredictable how long this will last for. Elsewhere, Taylor has lunch with her good friend, Linda Thompson (the ex-wife of Bruce Jenner). They discuss how it is hard to raise kids who are appreciative but live lavish lives in Beverly Hills as it is important to make them aware that they live fortunately and not to become too accustomed to or spoilt with the lives that they lead. They comment on one of Linda’s children asked what size pool she had when she grew up and she had to respond by saying that she did not grow up with one (which led her child to respond that they were not so common but that was because she lived in the olden days!).

Still in Las Vegas, Paul sweats a little bit about this male model (who is tall, dark and has a lean physique), he has a chat with the model and ensures he is going to be respectful with his Wife (half-joking). Adrienne points out how roles are reversed since his surgery is usually filled with beautiful women which could make her feel anxious or insecure. Adrienne finds the photo shoot to be edgy and good fun since it is different to the usual family photo shoots that she is used to.

After the fun of Palm Desert, Kim is hosting her second eldest Daughter, Whitney, a twentieth birthday party, at a posh spa. Kyle and her two eldest Daughters also come along to celebrate the occasion. During the day, Kim pulls Kyle aside and asks for her Sister’s support since Whitney has said that she wants to go to Houston (where her Dad lives) and spend the Summer there to catch up with her boyfriend and friends. While Kim is reluctant to say yes to this request since she doesn’t want a summer turning into a permanent residence, she is desperate for Kyle to back her up here and tell Whitney that she shouldn’t be going to Houston. Kyle, who disagrees with Kim’s decision to say no to her Daughter, says that she will not just agree with her Sister but will speak as she thinks which is to encourage her Niece to go. This opens another little disagreement between the Sisters as Kim finds Kyle to be lacking in support yet again (thinks a Sister should have loyalty and back up her Sister no matter what). As they recognize that they parent differently, Kim struggles with Kyle once again taking it upon herself to overstep her boundaries and essentially speak against her Sister to her Sister’s Daughter. While Kyle feels Kim always has the ability to turn a fun occasion into an argument, Kim complains that Kyle always gets herself involved when it comes to disagreements between Kim and her children. Kyle’s response to that is that Kim’s kids come to her since they feel their Mother doesn’t always make the best choices. She also doesn’t involve herself, Kim’s kids come to her. After their slight tiff, Kim’s eldest Daughter shares how dependent her Mother is to Kyle, who is venting at her Sister’s opinion on Whitney heading to Houston. Kyle admits that she is struggling to stick to her word when she promised her Mother that she’d look after Kim but also the entire family (including Kim’s kids) when her Sister acts like this. Kim is clearly too dependent on her children and needs to learn to stand on her own two feet, according to Kyle. One of the spa workers calls Kim, Kyle’s Mother, which turns Kyle hysterical which is potentially the highlight of the day!
