Danielle Staub is a former main and recurring cast member on The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Casting

Staub made up one of the five original main cast members in the first season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. After starring as a ‘Housewife’ for a second run, she announced that she would not be returning to the third season. Staub states that the reason for her exit was due to her now wanting to be continuously attacked like she had been the entire span of her time on the show and she wanted, instead, a spin-off series to show the positive side of Staub’s life. This deal not come to fruition and she chose ultimately to walk away from the show.

Despite this, Staub returned to the show for its eighth season as a ‘Friend of the Housewives’ and returned in this recurring capacity for the ninth and tenth seasons of the show. While Staub maintains that she walked away from the show out of her own volition the second time round, it has been speculated that the network, Bravo, fired her from the show after her altercation with castmate, Margaret Josephs, which saw Staub physically attack Josephs by pulling her ponytail. The network allegedly has a “zero tolerance policy” in the contracts they hand out to their employees about physical violence which Staub would’ve violated had this been in her contract which left producers no choice but to fire her from the show.

Staub expressed interest in returning to the show despite having ruled out ever appearing "with the Jersey girls" again during a Watch What Happens Live! appearance. Since the show is set to go through a major cast overhaul, Staub pitched the idea that she and fellow original 'Housewife', Teresa Giudice, were to lead the show with new cast members as they act as the "Mother Hens" for a fifteenth season. Despite this, a source close to production for the show has confirmed that Danielle would not return to the installment since they "want to move forward, not backwards" and view Danielle as 'a liability' after her past altercations when she starred on the show.
