Jill Zarin is a former main cast member on The Real Housewives of New York City. She also appeared as an "All Star" during the second season on The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip.
Casting[]
Zarin made up one of the five original main cast members in the first season of The Real Housewives of New York City. She starred as a ‘Housewife’ until the conclusion of the fourth season. She was "let go" from the series as part of one of the franchise’s biggest cast overhauls.
In an interview on Good Morning America, Zarin revealed that when the production company called, she said very little. Zarin described the feeling at the time by saying that "it was a little jolting. It didn’t feel good". She went onto say that the show was toxic and not a good environment for her. During a segment on HuffPost Live in January 2013, Zarin said that she would return to the show only if she was offered a million dollars. In February 2014, during a segment on Oprah: Where Are They Now?, Zarin revealed that she wasn’t surprised by her firing also saying what she believes the real reason was for her firing. Zarin described the events saying "I think I took a sleeping pill and I typed out an email to my ['Real Housewives'] producer and three out of the five housewives. I said, 'I'm leaving the show. I want to leave on a high. I'm in a good place right now.'" Zarin continued with her story saying: "I kind of got cold feet the next day, and I said, 'Ah, that was stupid, I shouldn't have sent that email out.'" LuAnn de Lesseps, her former co-star, announced in June 2016 in an interview with 9News that Zarin was set for a cameo appearance in 2014 during the sixth season but Ramona Singer didn't allow it with de Lesseps saying "Ramona [Singer] found out and she put the kibosh on that. Because Jill had the 'goods' on her...what that means is Jill knew what was going on in Ramona's life."
Despite this, Zarin did appear as a ‘Guest’ in the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth seasons of the show. In addition to this, Zarin did appear as a later arrival during the second season of The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip. This season featured former ‘Housewives’ - also known as the ‘Ex-Wives Club’ - holidaying in The Berkshires; a property owned by a former New York City ‘Housewife’, Dorinda Medley. Even though the pair did not star together on the show, they did know each other and were joined by six other ‘Housewives’ from three other American installments of The Real Housewives franchise.
