Relationship With Her Sister[]
Kim is in a transitional phase in her life as her kids are starting to all become adults and starting to carve their own paths for themselves. As Kim’s lease is up on the house that she is currently in, she is in the process of house hunting but is unable to be decisive about what her priorities are for her home (like how many bedrooms she needs, the location it is in). Her Sister, Kyle, is keen for her to integrate with some a new group of friends since Kim is lacking in the friendship department due to the stages in her life being focused purely around work (as a child star) and then onto being a full-time Mother. As Kyle puts Kim up for the task, she realizes that friendships take awhile to form and while she finds meeting new people uncomfortable, she needs to put herself out there and at least give it a go. Kim is on a mission, however, to show that she isn’t reliant on her children or on her Sister and can stand on her own two feet. When Kim’s Daughter, Whitney, throws a curveball that she is planning on spending the summer in Houston (where her Dad lives) and Kim is reluctant to allow this to happen, this is a test to see whether Kim is holding back her daughter because she leans on her children too much (is dependent on them).
Desire To Be Married Once Again[]
While they’re on their second trip of the season to Las Vegas, Kim does speak of how lonely she feels when she tours this grand hotel room that she is being put up in but has no one to share it with (unlike the rest of the cast on the trip). Additionally, during one of the dinners, the couples speak about their first meets and Kim doesn’t have any to do this with; provoking her to candidly reveal that being single on the trip is harder than she imagined. She admits to longing for a Husband who she can grow old with. She admits this to some of the 'Housewives' and tasks them with setting her up on a date with three single men they know (the age range being between twenty-five and seventy)!
Moving Home (Independence)[]
Kim does end up finding a property to move into; just in time since she was very much under the gun as her and her children were expected to be moving out of the rental just before Kim made a house purchase. The moving in day is stressful (not least because it falls on the same day as her Niece, Portia’s, second birthday party!), however, she is happy that she has proven wrong the doubters that she is unfit to fully take care of herself and her kids since she has managed to sustain providing a roof over the heads of her children and found this property on her own.

After coincidentally being in the same restaurant at the same time of Lisa Rinna’s meal which got together some of her closest friends, her mom, Lois, Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, Denise Richards and Camille Grammer, Kim texts Kyle and says how she can she her sister from another table. Also coincidentally, their other sister, Kathy Hilton, is also dining at the same restaurant for a separate occasion. She doesn’t say much to the group but does congratulate Camille on her recent engagement to David Meyer and awkwardly avoids Lisa and her mom as they haven’t crossed paths since the seventh season’s Reunion Special; where they didn’t resolve their three-year long conflict and Kim gave back a gift that Lisa Rinna had gifted to Kim’s first grandchild.
Kim attends Kyle’s "Farrahween" party (dedicated to Kyle’s eldest daughter, Farrah’s, thirtieth birthday and Halloween). Kim sees all of the 'Housewives' and that includes bumping into Lisa Rinna; who she obviously didn’t speak to when they last saw each other at the same restaurant and have not spoken in a good two years. Since Lisa Rinna is dressed as the "Erika Jayne" persona since it is a Halloween costume party, she takes it upon herself to use quite an offensive term to describe the behavior of Kim; when she gave back the present that Lisa Rinna gifted to Kim’s newborn grandson back to Lisa Rinna. Kim, taken aback, finds this to be very crude, rude and disrespectful as she reflects on their very turbulent relationships which has invovled more downs than ups. While Lisa Rinna would have liked a heads up from Kyle that her older sister would be in attendance, Kyle does find this behavior to be inappropriate. Even though Kim likes the "Erika Jayne" persona, she is furious that Lisa Rinna is mixing up the persona with her bad actions. As Kim asks some of the other women, away from Lisa Rinna, if they agree that it was extremely disrespectful, Denise protects Lisa Rinna; her good friend, as she questions if Kim realizes how hurt Lisa Rinna was after the entire bunny saga. Kim finds Denise’s interference to be a pain and not right. As Lisa Rinna finds the unresolved energy of two years between herself and Kim to be too much, she decides to speak to Kim (as Lisa Rinna, dropping the "Erika Jayne" persona) and they both agree to hash out the past, agree both their most recent actions in their feuds weee to far, forgive each other and move on, which is what they do - through a hug.
Kim does go round to Kyle’s house for a quick catch up, ahead of The Agency’s twenty-fifth store opening party. Kyle reflects on how their relationship is now in a good place and they have been through a lot as sisters so she always views her relationship with Kim to be a work in progress. Kim is still in her new happy phase with being a grandmother and is very comfortable with this lifestyle. Kim says she is unable to say whether she will make the upcoming The Agency party but Kyle does warn that Lisa Rinna will be in attendance. Kim says that each time apologies are given by Lisa Rinna, she doesn’t trust they are entirely genuine. She questions whether they will actually ever be friends again but doesn’t wish for that, only wishes for them to be civil. She just wants to feel confident that no slurs or daggers will be thrown at her when they are in each other’s company.

Touring Homes
In Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Wealthiness, Kim and Kyle are introduced as Sisters who are very close yet are at a stage in their lives where they’re finding that each other are getting on each other’s nerves. As Kim is house hunting, she leans on Kyle for support. However, when they’re going round of the potential homes that Kim is looking to buy, Kyle grows frustrated with Kim’s constant change of heart and mixed messages about what her priorities are, when she wants to move, how many bedrooms that she wants, and more. However, Kyle is keen to stick to the promise that she gave her Mother (when she was in her final days) to look after Kim since Kim is divorced and a very co-dependent person. She decides to invite out Kim to meet some of her friends when Adrienne Maloof hosts a day in Las Vegas to watch a Sacramento Kings basketball game; since she wants Kim to branch out and live a life outside of just her kids. Kyle and Kim have a little disagreement when back in Beverly Hills as they clash over how involved Kyle is in the process of helping Kim find an ideal home for her, as Kim feels Kyle is a little too involved in her personal life where she would step back and let her Sister have her own space to deal with her own personal life. They argue over how much of an effort Kim made with the group during the day trip to Las Vegas (which they have differing opinions of how well Kyle handled introducing her Sister to her friends), what Kim’s priorities should be for her new house and what Kim’s priorities should be in life (Kim feels it still needs to be on her kids, Kyle thinks differently). Kyle ends up feeling under appreciated and storms out of Kim’s house; telling her to handle things on her own. Kim feels Kyle has no idea what it is like to be a single mother and is very appreciative of her Sister’s help but there has to be some boundaries.

Shopping For Easter
In Chocolate Louboutins, the pair of Sisters, alongside Lisa Vanderpump, spend Easter together with their families in Palm Desert; which is an early family tradition from when they were young. While the Richards Sisters had a recent bust up, they are both willing to put it behind themselves and concentrate on having a good Easter. Kyle mentions that this fits in with their usual relationship dynamic - one minute arguing like crazy and the next cuddling each other. When Kim and her kids arrive in Palm Desert, Kim and Kyle realize that they have differing parenting styles and clash over whether it was wise to invite round Kyle’s friends on the first night that they arrived but these small tiffs don’t stop them from shopping together and also disagreeing on each and every item that they purchase. During the meal preparation on their first night in Palm Springs, there is a little disagreement after Kim pokes fun at how Kyle is incessant about having organic food. This prompts Kyle to admit that she and her Sister have underlying issues in and amongst their relationship which means the smallest disagreement causes bigger arguments nowadays. Despite yet another blip, the pair of Sisters make it through the Easter weekend together and Kyle reckons that she and Kim are now back to being in a normal place but finds it impossible to predict how long this will last for. Back in Beverly Hills, during Kim’s second Daughter, Whitney’s, birthday party, Kyle and Kim’s issues boil over once again. As Whitney is planning on heading to Houston, where her Dad, boyfriend and friends are, for the summer, Kim seeks backing from Kyle to tell her Daughter not to go since she is worried that a Summer will turn into forever. Despite this, Kyle is unwilling to do this as she wants to give her own opinion which is contradicting this. Kim is frustrated that Kyle is unwilling to support her, no matter what, which is what she thinks her Sister should be doing. Additionally, Kim finds Kyle to over-step the mark once again when it comes to almost parenting Kim’s children and not letting Kim do the parenting. Kyle finds Kim always able to turn a fun occasion into a negative and is worried she will not be able to stick to her word to her Mother to look after Kim and the entire family (which includes Kim’s kids) since Kim is very stubborn and not able to stand on her own two feet.

A Tense Toast
In Plenty of Baggage, Kyle admits that she hasn’t always agreed with her Sister’s taste in men and jokes how she should be vetting the guy that Kim is about go on a date with before she meets him. There are no downs on their second group trip to Las Vegas which is positive for the pair.
In It’s My Party and I’ll Spend If I Want To, Kim is invited to attend her Niece, Portia’s, second birthday party. Kim and her children are moving from her rental into her new house, on the same day, which means Kim is unable to fulfill Kyle’s wish of Kim getting to her home early to help set up for Portia’s birthday bash. Even though Kim arrives later to the party than the starting time, Kim and Kyle don’t seem to particularly bicker about Kim’s lateness and it turns into more of a jovial subject that they can joke about.

Kyle & Kim: In A Happier Moment
In The Art of War, Kyle and Kim’s up-and-down relationship comes massively in the forefront of the picture. As Kyle has a bust-up with Camille Grammer, she begins to get upset as someone is claiming she has said something which she vehemently denies and doesn’t know how to handle the situation. Since Kim has just had a smaller argument with Taylor Armstrong; who Kyle has tried to diffuse by telling Kim to drop it, Kim decides to say to Kyle that she should stop getting upset when she is partly to blame for the argument. Kyle questions why Kim didn’t speak up for her when she put Kim on the spot to confirm that she did not say what Camille is alleging she said (since she was the only other person present when Kyle allegedly asked the question which offended Camille). Kim tells Kyle to stay in her place and the Sisters bicker about each other not being good Sisters. Kyle tells Kim that what she is doing is not OK. As the fight is broken up by Lisa, the Sisters don’t leave on the best terms - leading Kim pining to get back home. The next day, Kyle tries to chat to her Sister over the phone but Kim does not pick up and Kyle decides not to leave a voicemail. Kyle admits to Lisa that their bust-up is weighing heavily on her. Later in the day, Taylor, Lisa, and the two Sisters head out for a spot of lunch. Kim gifts everyone with a bracelet and Kyle admits that she can’t be that thankful or appreciative since she is so angry at her Sister for last night. Kim does admit that Kyle did not ask the question that Camille claims she did which prompts Kyle to ask why Kim did not defend her at the time she most needed her too. Kim claims there was never a moment for her to say anything yet Kyle refutes this since she placed Kim on the spot. As Kim re-considers going to Camille’s Husband, Kelsey’s, premiere night, to avoid anymore drama; Kyle, who is not sure whether she is going to go due to her drama with Camille, questions whether this is a move of solidarity to make up for not defending her the night prior. However, she admits to be on the verge of snapping so wants her Sister to be careful. No other drama does go down for the remainder of the New York trip. On the journey back home, Kyle softens when her Sister talks about life without a companion - admitting that she finds it strange how much a relationship with a Sister can shift so rapidly (from being angry to making up in an instant).
Lisa Vanderpump[]
Friend[]
Season 1 (RHOBH)[]
In Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Wealthiness, Lisa and Kim don’t seem to know each other at all well. As Kim is coming out of her shell and attempting to make new friends, she is getting to know all of the 'Housewives' (with the exception of Kyle Richards) and realizes that it is taking time to do so but knows this was always going to be the case. Lisa highlights how she could sense a very reserved energy from Kim throughout the day that the girls go to Las Vegas.

Lisa Refereeing Between Kim & Kim’s Sister, Kyle

Lisa & Kim Cutting Lisa’s Easter Gift
In Chocolate Louboutins, after Kyle invites Lisa and her family to join her extended families' Easter get-together, Kim admits not to be too thrilled (meaning no offence but just doesn’t like the fact that their family celebration is being extended to other people and she is going to have to work hard to socialize and get to know Lisa which she finds is an uncomfortable task). When Lisa helps both Kyle and Kim cook for a vast number of people during their first night together in Palm Desert, the Richards Sisters get into a small disagreement which Lisa notices is not something that you want to get in between as whoever you do not side with will bite your head off! Despite this, she says that she adores spending time with Kyle but finds Kim a little on the defense and hard to get to know.
In Plenty of Baggage, Kim and Lisa both attend the Las Vegas trip that Adrienne Maloof organizes yet their on-camera interaction is little. During the episode, pre-Las Vegas, Kim is invited, alongside all of the other 'Housewives', to Villa Blanca, for a bite to eat, however.

Lisa Joking To Kim About Lateness
In It’s My Party and I’ll Spend If I Want To, Lisa and Kim cross paths at Kyle’s Daughter, Portia’s, second birthday party. They seem to be getting to know each other more (friendlier and more comfortable with each other) and they joke about Kim’s time-keeping since she turns up late to Portia’s birthday bash. Lisa references how Kim was late to Villa Blanca when she had the five other 'Housewives' for a meal at one of her restaurants yet Kim jokingly snaps and retorts by saying that she only been late to Villa Blanca and this birthday party but she is never usually late otherwise.
Adrienne Maloof[]
Friend[]
Season 1 (RHOBH)[]
In Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Wealthiness, Adrienne and Kim clearly do not know each other that well as Kim is invited by her Sister, Kyle Richards, to Adrienne’s girlfriend get-together to spend a day in Las Vegas; watching a Sacramento Kings game. Kim admits not to forming any connections with the other girls but realizes that this is going to take time so doesn’t rule out future friendships with any of the ladies, including Adrienne, within the group.
In Plenty of Baggage, not much on-screen interaction is present between Adrienne and Kim. However, Adrienne does invite Kim, along with all of the other 'Housewives', for their second trip to Las Vegas to see Jay Z live in concert.

Adrienne & Kim Go Shopping For Their Upcoming NYC Trip
In I Would Never Say That, Adrienne and Kim go shopping ahead of their upcoming visit to New York City to see Camille Grammer’s Husband, Kelsey, on stage. They both admit that they’re sick of wearing the colour black (which Adrienne feels that she always wear when in New York!). They discuss about how they’re both last-minute packers. Kim remarks on how she is the opposite to her Sister, Kyle, who has a load of good friends. She is very selective with the people that she considers a friend. She warms to Adrienne considering she finds her to be very much a family woman, which Kim identifies with, so feels that they’re building a strong friendship. As they’re getting into the outfit shopping, Adrienne receives a sad phone call which is from her Brother that informs her that her Mother’s Brother (Adrienne’s Uncle) has just suddenly passed away. Kim sees that Adrienne is in a lot of pain due to this news which Adrienne puts down to the worry that she has for her Mother; who will be devastated. Kim warmly embraces Adrienne who has to get back home quickly and abandon the clothing shopping.
Taylor Armstrong[]
Friend[]
Season 1 (RHOBH)[]
In Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Wealthiness, Taylor and Kim hardly know each other before they’re both invited on Adrienne Maloof’s private jet to watch The Sacramento Kings game in Las Vegas. During the game, they’re sat next to each other (with Kim being at the end of the group). They both feel that each other are not interested in getting to know one another and therefore, hardly make any attempts to communicate with each other. Taylor isn’t interested in climbing a wall that Kim has made to stop people coming in to get to know her while Kim feels Taylor purposefully had her back to her throughout the entire game.
In Plenty of Baggage, Taylor and Kim reunite for the first time since they didn’t get good vibes off each other when they were last in Las Vegas. The pair are both involved in Adrienne’s second trip to Las Vegas and don’t seem to have much on-screen interaction yet it all seems cordial between the pair.
In The Art of War, Taylor and Kim’s relationship goes on the downward spiral. After Camille Grammer asks the 'Housewives' if they have ever thought or said that Camille is insecure. Kim confesses to Camille and says that both she and Taylor had a conversation about it on their way out to New York. Taylor, taken aback, is visibly annoyed since she only nodded to Kim questioning whether Camille is insecure but she never gave any indication of agreement to Kim’s theory. As Kim presses Taylor for trying to back out of saying she thought Camille was insecure (she was not recorded on-camera saying this, however), Taylor says that Kim shouldn’t "f***ing drag me into this ‘cause I guarantee that you’re barking up the wrong tree here". Taylor feels Kim is putting words in her mouth and hasn’t been involved in the contentious conversations between Kyle Richards and Camille Grammer (which is why the word ‘insecure’ has been bought up); so wants to remain out of them. Taylor says that she is going to "pull Kim aside and pull some Oklahoma on her a**". Taylor also tells Kim not to upset her while Kim comes right back at Taylor and says not to upset her"p*** her off" either. For the remainder of the trip (over the next two days), there is a bit of awkwardness between the pair yet tensions do not boil over to the surface. Kim gifts a bracelet to Taylor (among a couple of others) which Taylor graciously accepts yet privately questions whether this is an olive branch without an apology.
Camille Grammer[]
Friend[]
Season 1 (RHOBH)[]
In Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Wealthiness, Camille and Kim clearly do not know each other at all well and don’t have much interaction but Kim doesn’t feel she has a connection with any of the girls after the day in Las Vegas but realizes to form connections does take time.
In Plenty of Baggage, while on the second trip (organized by Adrienne Maloof) to Las Vegas, Camille and Kim somewhat bond over raising their kids as single mothers (Camille has a Husband who is away for a year working on a new movie and does have staff as help to raise her two children while Kim has no Husband and is a mother-of-four with no staff to help raise her kids). While Kim’s Sister, Kyle Richards, finds it insensitive of Camille to compare herself to Kim since they’re in fairly different scenarios, Kim doesn’t seem to take any offense.

Episode Statistics[]
- She appears in the tenth, sixteenth and twenty-first episodes of the ninth season.
Storylines[]
- Kim’s storyline on the first season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is finding her independence (as she moves property and tries to navigate her relationship with her protective younger Sister; whom she sometimes finds a bit too involved in her life and mainly because she is not in a marriage). This independence comes out in the forming of new friendships and finding a focus that is different from that of her children.
