NeNe Leakes is a former main cast member on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She also starred in her own spin-off series, titled: I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding.
Casting[]
Leakes made up one of the five original main cast members on the first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She starred up until the conclusion of the seventh season as a ‘Housewife’ before deciding to quit the show to focus on other business ventures.
Leakes did return to the show for its eighth season as a ‘Guest’, however, as she joined the cast on their trip to Jamaica and joined the third part of the Season’s Reunion Special to give her take on their trip away. Ahead of the official cast announcement, Leakes announced that she was set to star in some capacity during the ninth season of the show but this never materialized as she wasn’t invited to film any scenes for the season.
Despite this, Leakes returned to the show’s tenth season as a ‘Housewife’ and remained starring in a main capacity until the conclusion of the twelfth season. Although, was absent from the first two episodes of the latter season since she and producers were still mulling over contract negotiations when cameras picked up to film the twelfth edition of the show. She was absent for an additional four episodes this season.
Leakes did not return to the show for its thirteenth season since she and the network failed to reach contractual agreements. She has not appeared on the show since and filed a lawsuit against Executive Producer and Host, Andy Cohen, and the network, Bravo, for unfair treatment but has since dropped this.
Leakes did star in her own spin-off series, titled: I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding, which aired ahead of the sixth season’s premiere of the main show. The series chronicled around Leakes ahead of her second wedding to Gregg Leakes; fifteen years after their first wedding and two years after their divorce, she plans their big day and attempts to put the past in the past and look forward to the future.
