The Gloves Are Off is the seventh episode in the eighteenth season and the three-hundredth-and-fifteenth episode ever produced of The Real Housewives of Orange County. It premiered on August 22, 2024, to an audience of 0.52 million live viewers.
Synopsis[]
On Bravotv.com: "In La Quinta, Shannon breaks down over the impending lawsuit with John, and tension between Gina and Emily finally bubbles over on the pickleball court. In Big Bear, the ladies bond over divorce, but when they pack up to leave, Alexis gets a call from John that sends her spiraling. After hearing that Shannon has changed, Tamra invites her to share a meal to see if there’s any hope of moving forward."[1]
Summary[]
The ladies have breakfast at their respective trip locations. In La Quinta, Emily, Shannon, Gina, and Heather talk about John Janssen's lawsuit toward Shannon. Shannon breaks down from the stress and how hurt she is, the ladies support and console her. Shannon is surprised by the support but sad as Tamra is usually the one that offers her consolation.
In Big Bear, Katie, Alexis, and Tamra ask Jenn about her ex-husband, Will. Jenn states she has accepted that Will cheated on her with her good friend, Laura and they are co-parenting. Jenn breaks down as she sees a Instagram story of her kids having fun with Laura and Will, Jenn is frustrated that Will is happy with Laura but was not when they were together. Alexis offers advise, Tamra echoes her experience with her daughter Sidney.

Emily and Gina play pickle ball, Gina confronts the elephant in the room. Emily thinks Gina puts Heather on a pedestal and Heather manipulates Gina. Gina thinks Emily is being aggressive toward Jenn. Argument ensued and Gina storms off. Gina was unable to get in the house thus needing to go back to the court. Emily intercepts Gina, they both break down. Gina is scared of potentially losing Travis and Emily. They apologize and makeup as Shannon and Heather arrive. Heather thinks Gina is acting different and she is going through something serious at home.
Alexis encourages Katie to apologize to Heather for the sake of the friend group. Jenn thinks Tamra is too aggressive towards Shannon and pursues Tamra to be less harsh. Alexis talks to John on the phone, John is distressed which in turn causes Alexis to break down. However, Alexis is not at legal liberty to say what Shannon has done to cause John to imply "the gloves are off".
Back in Orange County, Tamra visits Gina. Gina is renovating, right after Travis moved out. Gina thinks it is a fresh start but Travis thinks Gina is erasing him. Gina tells Tamra that Shannon drank in La Quinta. Gina reveals that she also had a drinking problem and did not stop drinking after her DUI. Gina defends Shannon and speaks from experience that forcing an alcoholic to confront their problem does more harm than good. However, Tamra insists on her "tough love" approach toward Shannon.
Katie and Emily take their boys on a play date at a candy store. They refresh each other on their respective trips. Katie expresses distrust in Gina. Katie reveals that John has Ring footage of Shannon almost running over her daughter. Emily doesn't understand the source of vindictiveness coming from Alexis.
Jenn and Ryan enjoy mani pedi together. Jenn contrasts her relationships, spending ample quality time with Ryan while the opposite with Will. Jenn shares her Onlyfans endeavors and Ryan objects. Jenn thinks she cuddles her kids, Ryan agrees.
Tamra takes the ladies' advice and meet with Shannon. They immediately start arguing with Tamra stating that she wishes Shannon reaches out to her first. Shannon states Tamra has been "defaming" her for weeks. Tamra begins questioning Shannon's sobriety. Tamra brings up Shannon's DUI and Shannon storms out. Tamra jokes about Shannon getting a drink while Shannon breaks down with a producer in the restroom. Shannon returns and they continue to argue. John's lawsuit is brought up and Shannon reveals her lawyer had made a settlement offer earlier in the day and John refused. Tamra sympathizes with Shannon and they seem to reconcile as Tamra invites Shannon and Vicki to her upcoming party.
