The Housewives Are Back! is the first episode in the second season and the ninth episode ever produced of The Real Housewives of Orange County. It premiered on January 16, 2007, to an audience of N/A million live viewers.

Synopsis

On Google Play Store: "In the first episode of the second season of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Orange County," Slade is green with envy as Jo heads off to a Playboy party at the mansion with her girlfriend JJ. Jo and Slade are back together as a couple, but both are mistrusting of each other, especially since Slade's romantic encounter with Lauri when Jo and Slade were broken up. Lauri is ecstatic after meeting George, the man of her dreams. George is a wealthy businessman in Orange County with four kids. Both families are spending time together and getting to know one another, while Josh is away at a special residential program working on his behavioral and substance abuse problems.

Jeana is excelling as a real estate agent in the community while Shane struggles with a recent back injury, which is keeping him from playing professional baseball. As usual, Kara and Shane fight while Jeana's husband Matt tries to keep his cool. Kara and kid brother, Colton, bond after the death of their dog, Shire. Jeana has lunch with her girlfriend, Tammy, who needs a new place to live in the community after her house was severely damaged by a flood. She is a single mother of three who just ended a ten-year relationship. Vicki tries to give her son, Michael, a taste of working in the "real world". Also, Vicki hires a new staffer to hold down the fort and learn the insurance business. Vicki meets up with her mother at dinner and is reminded as to why she constantly craves affection and affirmation. Meanwhile, Kimberly is leaving Orange County with her family and moving to Chicago."

Summary

Jo is going to the Playboy Mansion for the Midsummer Night's Dream party with her friend JJ. Lauri attended the same party with Lorelei last year. Slade does not mind as he attended a Maxim party without Jo. Jo thinks Slade is insecure, Slade refutes. Slade calls Lauri to ask if she's going to the Playboy party. Slade follows Jo to the party an hour later, but gets turned around because he is not on the list. Another day, Jo tells Slade about the Playboy party, Slade questions Jo on if there were guys there. They are working on trust, Jo feels they might be growing apart.

Vicki gets eyelash extensions. Donn gets a new job that requires a lot of traveling. Vicki goes to Chicago to visit Michael, who she sent to work for her brother Billy's contracting business for the summer. Michael's biological father, Michael Sr. is working there too. Vicki thinks it'd be good for him to connect with Michael Sr. Vicki has dinner with her whole family in Chicago, Michael Sr. could not make it. Vicki's mom, Joanne makes jokes of Vicki for caring about her appearance, to Vicki's displeasure. Vicki seeks validation from Joanne. Vicki thinks Michael will go into construction if he does not receive a college education.

Vicki's business continues to grow, and she hires Duff, through Jeana to help. Duff has a son, Ryley from a previous long term relationship.

Mo the dog

Jeana is continuing on her real estate career. Shane participated in the Junior College World Series, but unfortunately injured his back before signing with the Oakland A's. Now Shane's recovering at home for 6 weeks. Kara and Shane wreak havoc as kids do but Matt is unable to take it due to his previous head injury. Kara and Matt argue, Kara states she never knew Matt pre-injury, unlike Shane, who experienced Matt in a kinder light. Dogs run wild in the Keough household, but nobody take responsibilities for them. Jeana threatens Kara on selling her dog if she does not take care of them. Kara believes Jeana and states it has happened before. Kara enjoys the dogs company as Matt is often away and Jeana is working. One of the dogs, Shire, passed away. Kara and Shane were at a party, Kara rushed home while Shane stayed at the party. Colton and Matt are heartbroken. Colton and Kara are the closest to the dogs.

Lauri met land developer George on a blind date last year. They go on George's boat with their kids. Lauri is enjoying the affluent lifestyle once again and thinks George might be the one. Josh wasn't able to make it and is receiving treatment 2 hours away from Orange County. Lauri got Josh out of his program for a day for a beach trip, along with all the children, 7 in total. They run into Shane and his friend, Shane mentions he talked to Jo about the Playboy party to Lauri's surprise. Shane checks in with Josh, Lauri reveals a couple weeks after leaving Juvie, Josh was caught speeding with other underage kids, and has to attend a state run boarding school to finish his education. Lauri feels guilty that Josh only gets to be home on weekends.

Kim is moving to Chicago, after her recent melanoma diagnosis, they decided to move somewhere with less sun. Especially after her son Travis received a similar diagnosis due to the hereditary nature of melanoma. Kim feels guilty of uprooting her kids. Kim, Lauri, Vicki, and Jeana have good bye drinks. Jeana drops Kim off at the airport.

Lauri and George have a date at St. Regis, they have been dating for 6 months. George surprises Lauri with a vacation in Europe, which Lauri is ecstatic about.

Jeana and Tammy have lunch, they have been friends for more than 15 years. Tammy is revealed to be the previous long term relationship with Duff. Jeana is leasing Tammy a house in the neighborhood. Tammy was affluent, but lost everything when she got divorced. Unfortunately the house she bought herself was destroyed when it flooded.
