Without a Clue is the fifth episode in the fifteenth season of The Real Housewives of New York City.

On Bravotv.com: "Jessel throws herself a “Clueless”-themed birthday party. Brynn prepares to see Ubah after their clash in the Hamptons. Sai gets closure with her mom’s passing. Erin’s growing frustration with Jenna finally comes to a head."[1]

The episode opens with a 90's Clueless/The Fresh Prince of Bel Air styled montage narrated by Jessel.

Sai and her husband David shop for vegetable saplings at a nursery for their garden in their new house in Upstate New York. They frequent the second house in the summer and weekends. Sai's aunt Sufia is visiting them, Sai has been dealing with her feelings in therapy and decides it's time to properly place her mother's ashes. Sai's mother's ashes will be placed in an urn in their house upstate, David suggests taking a portion of the ashes and planting it with a tree.
Jessel tells her husband Pavit her plans for her Clueless themed Birthday Party. Pavit doesn't understand the concept of outfit changes during the party. Brynn Facetimes her ex-fiance Gideon while getting eyelash extensions. Erin and her husband Abe get coffee, Erin thinks it's Abe's turn to pick up the kids.

Jenna arrives at online fashion magazine Coveteur's office for a meeting. Erin's son Beckett is leaving for college soon so she has taken on the role of editor and chief at the Coveteur to fill in time. Jenna has two other jobs, a start up and LoveSeen. Jenna is excited to have fashion roundtable meetings again.
Ubah invites Racquel over to get to know her better, and more importantly to let her know Ubah and Brynn's argument in the Hamptons doesn't represent her. Ubah shows Racquel her paintings. Racquel states there are no "bad art", and is glad Ubah is expressing herself through the medium of painting. They discuss their patriotism and current issues reflected in Ubah's interpretation of the American flag. Ubah immigrated to Vancouver at the age of 15 and started her modeling career there. They bond over being fledgeling models in New York City, especially when each model agency only had 1 diversity hire black girl.

They talk about the breakfast in Hamptons, Ubah tells Racquel Brynn condescendingly told her to behave in a way to be not edited as an "angry black woman". Racquel thinks Brynn is the one who triggers Ubah to act that way. and Brynn is "manipulative". Ubah thinks Brynn set her up, and she does not want to have a conversation with Brynn at Racquel's suggestion. Racquel thinks they should talk their issues over.
Sai's family and her aunt Sufia arrive at their second home Upstate. Sai is still in the process of innovating the house. They plant the tree sapling along with Sai's mother's ashes. Emotions hit especially Sai and Sufia hard. They give speech while remembering Sai's mother.

Jessel, Erin, and Brynn shop for Jessel's Clueless Birthday Party. Erin had seen an Instagram post of Jenna and Sai, Erin thinks Jenna is fake and "doesn't want to be friends with Jenna now". Erin states Jenna has not reached out to her in her hard times (her mother's cancer diagnosis) but has time to spend with Sai, who allegedly talked bad about Jenna. Brynn rehashes her argument with Ubah in the Hamptons, she gives Sai "grace" for her written text apology to Brynn but calls Sai a "miserable troll".
The ladies arrive at Jessel's Clueless Birthday Party. Jenna dresses up as the dad in the film and serves everyone legal notices. Erin asks Jessel what the plans are for her actual birthday the day after, Jessel states Pavit had just texted her asking what she wants to do the day before. Rebecca and Erin theorize Pavit is pretending to be clueless to surprise Jessel, to which Jessel doubts.

Erin tells Sai Jenna "annoys the f*ck out of" her, and thinks that Jenna is not a real friend while having an Espresso Martini. Erin is not longer interested in being friends with Jenna, to Sai's surprise as Erin and Jenna were close. Erin thinks she needs real friends to rely on while dealing with her 3 kids, Abe's Bitcoin betrayal, and her mother's cancer diagnosis. Ubah joins, Erin reiterates she already has "great friends" in her life and is not willing to invest in her friendship with Jenna anymore. Ubah and Sai points out that Jenna probably doesn't know Erin has issues with her.
Brynn tells Jenna about her conversation with Jessel and Erin when they were dress shopping. Jenna appreciates Brynn for telling her and doesn't appreciate Erin to talking behind her back. Rebecca announces she's getting a drink, a dig at Brynn who according to Rebecca makes a big deal of her not drinking. Rebecca tells Brynn that she will drink with her, "but not tonight". They bicker, Brynn calls Rebeccas "boring" in her confession. Brynn has a spray tan appointment and leaves, to Jessel's surprise.

Abe tells Jenna there's "unresolved tension" between her and Erin, to Jenna's confusion as she didn't know Erin has a problem with her. Abe tries to backtrack as he realizes Jenna doesn't know about Erin's one sided beef. Erin tells Ubah, Racquel, Jessel, and Rebecca she doesn't feel as close to Jenna anymore. Jenna thinks if Erin has a problem with her she has her phone number. Jenna joins the ladies. Racquel thinks Erin owes Jenna a notice, Ubah leaves to give Erin and Jenna space to talk.
Erin states she's "fine" when asked by Jenna. Erin tells Jenna what she had been telling the ladies. Jenna doesn't understand why Erin feels that way. Erin explains that Jenna believed Brynn over her about Jenna's car breaking down and never paying Erin back for the Uber due to alleged money trouble. Erin tells her conversation with Brynn where Brynn stated Jenna thinks Brynn let Erin off the hook for her comments on Jeff Lews too easy. Through their conversation, they discovered Brynn had "embellished" many stories between the ladies. Erin is disappointed that Jenna believed in Brynn's embellished story about her. Erin is hurt Jenna considers being the closest with Brynn in the group. They argue, Erin thinks Brynn is jealous of her friendship with Jenna. She mentions Brynn coming into their dressing room at reunion last season, and Brynn started using her makeup artist who she introduced to Jenna. Jenna apologizes to Erin and they move forward.
